The Wehrmacht helmet became the ubiquitous German helmet of World War II, worn by all branches of the Wehrmacht and SS, police, fire brigades and Party organizations.⁠ ⁠ Private First Class Lester Luber, a U.S. military medic of the 327th Medical Battalion within the 102nd Infantry Division, picked up a Wehrmacht soldier helmet as a trophy following the Germans surrender. ⁠ ⁠ Private Luber kept this helmet in memory of his time spent in Europe, then donated it to the Museum in 1983. #WWII #Wehrm
