Two #Turtles! I grew up with #Proganochelys “before brightness turtle” Baur 1887 as being the oldest known #turtle at ~210 mya. It lacked true teeth, had a sweet shell, and a tail that ended in a club which I absolutely adore! The head couldn’t retract like #cryptodires, nor bend to one side like #pleurodires. It has been found in Europe. More recently, the age of turtles has been pushed back to 230 mya in Asia. I hear about turtles most Thursday nights when I meet with turtle expert McCord. #Me
